    • T.J.C. Williams & F. McKinsey, HISTORY OF FREDERICK COUNTY, p. 860 (1910), state that his mother "Margaret E., (Mrs. Guyer Block [sic]), of Thurmont. Md., has seven children: Morris G., Earl L., Martha E., William J., Willis G.; Goldie A., and George G...."
    • Morris' WW I draft registration card (5 Jun 1917) records that he was born 27 Feb 1890 in Thurmont, MD. At the time he was married, the father of a child, and employed by the Western Maryland Railroad Co.

      "Morris G. Black, 91, of 12 Elm St., Thurmont, Maryland, died Saturday [3 Oct] at the Warner Hospital.
      "He was the husband of Jane Amanda Gigeous Black, who died October 15, 1963.
      "Born in Thurmont February 27, 1890, he was the son of the late William Geyer and Maggie Ellen Byers Black. He had been employed as a sawmill operator. He was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad, and retired from the Thurmont Cannery in 1958.
      "He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Thurmont and the IOOF Lodge number 46 of Thurmont.
      "Survivors include: a son, Joseph R. Black of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Dorothy Late of Thurmont; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Goldie Cook of Frederick, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
      "*** Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday [6 Oct].... Interment will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont."
