    • In 1920 Raymond, 14, was living with his grandparents, Joseph W. and Ella Snouffer, and their children "Joey F," 30; "Lila," 26; John G, 25; and other grandsons, Leslie R Snouffer, 18; and Harry Sells, 4. 1920 U.S. Census, Perry Twsp, Franklin Cnty, OH (T 625, Roll 1380, stamped p. 40).

The 1930 census lists Raymond as a 24 year old man, born in Ohio, living as a "roomer" at a boarding house with his wife Mary (her name is left blank on the census sheet) in Worthington. Raymond was the "proprieter" of a "tire shop - auto." 1930 U.S. Census, Worthington, Franklin Cnty, OH (T 626, Roll 1802, ED 214, p. 3B).

Opha Moore, HISTORY OF FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, v. 3, pp. 1303-04 (Historical Pub. Co.; 1930), states:
"Raymond C. Snouffer is one of the representative young business men of Worthington, where he has the agency for the DeSoto and Chevrolet automobiles. He was born at Worthington, May 13, 1905, the son of Stanley W. and Verna (Harding) Snouffer.
"Stanley W. Snouffer was born at Linworth, Ohio. In early life he was a farmer and also followed the carpenter's trade. He sold his farm near Worthington in 1919 and has since engaged in the building business in Columbus. His wife was born at Worthington and died in 1917 [sic]. She is buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Worthington. To Mr. and Mrs. Snouffer were born four sons: Elmer, who is engaged in the furniture business at Worthington; Stephen M., and Leslie R., who are engaged in the automobile business at Worthington; and Raymond C., the subject of this sketch.
"Raymond C. Snouffer obtained his education in the public schools of Worthington and was graduated from high school in 1925. He spent almost two years in the employ of the Columbus Oil Company as an attendant in their Worthington station, and then went with the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company, Columbus, as a mechanic, for three years. Since 1927 Mr. Snouffer, in partnership with his brothers, Stephen M. and Leslie R., has engaged in the automobile business at Worthington as agent for the DeSoto and Chevrolet automobiles. They are also exclusive dealers at Worthington for Firestone tires and tubes and have an up to date service station and repair shop.
"On August 17, 1928, Mr. Snouffer married Miss Mary B.[sic] Boyd, of Worthington.
"Mr. Snouffer is a Republican, a member of the Worthington Methodist Episcopal Church and Independent Order of Odd Fellows."

John I. Snouffer reported in 2000 that Ray had been in the dry cleaning business for at least 40 years. He commented in 2002 that after the car dealership closed [the DeSoto lines of cars having been discontinued], Ray went into the dry cleaning business. (Email to Wm.C.Snouffer, 7 Nov 2002)

The Social Security Death Index records that Raymond C. Snouffer (SSN 281-22-3178; issued in Ohio) was born 13 [sic] May 1905 and died 24 May 2001 while living in Delaware, Delaware Cnty, OH.

"Snouffer's Roots are Deep in Worthington"
      By Candy Brooks
In this article about his half-brother Paul, and his father Stanley, Ms. Brooks wrote:
"Stanley had four boys from his first marriage [to Verna Hard], which ended with his wife's death while they were living in the big farmhouse that still stands on the rear of Whieldon Lane. He later married Mertie [Near], and together they had Paul, who was born in 1921 in the old Griswold Inn.
"Son Elmer was a master carpenter and furniture maker who worked in downtown Worthington.
"Son Steve was a car dealer and gas-station owner, also in downtown Worthington. He later became the Worthington postmaster and worked out his years at Worthington Hardware.
"Leslie was a tire dealer in Delaware but lived most of his life in Worthington.
"Ray owned Snouffer Dry Cleaners at High Street and New England Avenue, later moving to one of brother Steve's properties at High and Worthington-Galena Road."
