    • According to his WW I draft registration card (5 Jun 1917), Vere Miles Harrington, 26, was born 9 Sep 1890 in Sturgis, MI. He was a factory machine hand and worked for the Kellogg Switchboard Co. He was married and had a child and lived in Cass Cnty, MI.
    • The 1930 census lists Vere M Harrington, 39, living with his wife Mate C, 42, and 3 children: Ruth H, 15; Editha E, 12; and Elson V, 10. All except Mate had been born in Michigan. Vere was employed as a foreman in a garage. 1930 U.S. Census, Hastings Twsp, Barry Cnty, MI (T 626, Roll 974, stamped p. 80B).
    • By the time of the 1940 census, he worked as a custodian at the local county courthouse.
    • Obituary, The [Battle Creek, MI] Enquirer and News, p. 18 (17 Jun 1949):
      "Hastings -- Vere M. Harrington, 58, custodian of the Barry county building the last 15 years, died at Pennock hospital at 7:30 a.m. today [17 Jun] following a month's illness with a heart ailment. He was born Sept. [sic] 9, 1890, the son of Willis and Hattie (Paustle) Harrington and came to Hastings from Cassopolis in 1921. He was a member of the Episcopal church and the Masonic lodge. Surviving are his wife, Mate; a daughter, Mrs. Editha Bachelder of Hastings; and a son, Elson, of Believue. Services will be conducted ... from the Leonard chapel ... Monday [20 Jun] and burial will be in Riverside cemetery."
