    • His WW I Draft Registration Card indicated that he was born December 10, 1894; that he was living near Gettysburg, PA and was a farmer. His WW II Draft Registration Card (27 Apr 1942) indicates that he was born 10 Dec 1894 in Adams Cnty, PA; that he was living with his wife Maggie in New Oxford, Adams Cnty, PA; and that he was working on a dairy farm for C. M. Wolf of Gettysburg, PA.

      The 1920 census records that Luther Decker, 25, was living with his wife Naomi, 21, and two daughters: Ruth, 3 & 4/12; and Blanche, 1 & 8/12. All family members had been born in Pennsylvania. Luther was a farmer. 1920 U.S. Census, Straban Twsp, Adams Cnty, PA (T 625, Roll 1507, stamped p. 54).

      In 1930 the census shows Luther, 35, living with his wife of 14 years, "Neama M," 32, and 7 daughters: Ruth I, 13; "Blanch B," 11; Jean M, 10; Florence I, 8; Mildred L, 5; Betty J, 3 & 2/12; and Mary M, 10 months. Luther was a laborer, working "odd jobs." Living immediately next to them were Naomi's parents, John H. Shanebrook, 62, and Maggie C., 57, together with their sons Charles H, 22; John A, 20; and Mark G, 15.       "Luther Hayden Decker, 66, husband of Naomi Shanebrook Decker, New Oxford R. 1, died at his home at 9:45 o'clock this morning after suffering a heart attack in his kitchen. He had suffered attacks in 1958 and had been under a doctor's care.
      "The deceased was born in Straban Twp., a son of the late Charles B. and Mary Kemper Decker. He had been a car dealer and farmer. He was a member of the Pines St. Paul's Lutheran Church, New Chester.
      "Surviving in addition to his widow are 11 children: Glenn J., New Oxford; Charles L., at home; Mrs. Andrew Heikes and Mrs. Harry E. Myers, both of York; Mrs. George Beaver, Mrs. Harold S. Lawrence, both of New Oxford; Mrs. Curtis J. Klunk and Mrs. Peter Hoffnagle, both of Hanover R. 4; Mrs. Harry L. Kline, New Oxford R. 2; Mrs. Clyde E. Kepner, Hanover; and Mrs. Charles Kulynycha Thomasville R. 1; 24 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Donald B. Sanders, McSherrystown.
      "Funeral services Wednesday afternoon [30 Aug].... Burial in The Pines Church Cemetery...."
