    • In 1940 the census lists his parents, Ralph Judd, 29, and Alice, 28, living with James, 5. Ralph was born in VA; Alice and their son were born in Washington, D.C. Ralph was a salesman for a wholesale dry goods company. 1940 U.S. Census, Silver Spring, Montgomery Cnty, MD (T 627, Roll 1555, ED 16-53E, stamped p. 1110).
    • Wedding announcement, The [Charleston, SC] News and Courier, p. 4-B (3 Feb 1957):
      "Sumter [SC], Feb. 2 (Special) -- Miss Leila Maye Jackson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Clifton Jackson, became the bride of Mr. James Franklin Judd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Snith [sic] Judd of Silver Springs [sic], Md., at the First Baptist Church Jan. 27....
      "Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a ballerina-length gown of Chantilly lace and tulle. Her fingertip veil fell from a lace cap....
      " ***
      "After a wedding trip to Florida, the couple will reside in Silver Springs [sic], Md.
      "Mrs. Judd was graduated from Edmunds High School and Clevenger Business College.
      "Mr. Judd, a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Springs [sic], attended the University of Maryland. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and plans to reenter the university where he will major in accounting."
    • His father's death notice in The Washington [D.C.] Post ( 27 Jul 1988), provides that "on Monday, July 25, 1988, Ralph S. Judd ... father of Nancy Elizabeth Coleman, James Franklin and Ralph Allan Judd..." died.
