  • Notes
    • The 1880 census shows his father John A. Ruble, 46, an engineer, born in Virginia, living with his mother "Kate," 39, and their three sons: Ellis, 13; "Fredk C," 11; and Charles, 7. 1880 U.S. Census, Urbana, Champaign Cnty, OH (T 9, Roll 998, stamped pp. 416C & D).

The 1900 census lists his mother Catherine Ruble, a 59-yr old widow born in Ohio in Sept, 1840, a mother of 4 children, living with the 2 children who were still alive: Ellis and Charles A. 1900 U.S. Census, Allen Twsp, Darke Cnty, OH (T 623, Roll 1261, stamped p. 41). (By implication, therefore, son Frederick was dead, and a baby child, name unknown, also was deceased.)

Darke Cnty, OH, Mississinawa Twsp, apparently has "early death" records; its index records "Ruple, Fred E died 2-27-1898 at age 29-4-16, married." The records also record that marriage license # 20366 was issued in 1894 to Fred C. Ruble and Anna A. Wentling. The birth and death info also appears on one side of the Ruble family obelisk.
