    • Holdcraft's NAMES IN STONE, p. 1070, has the dob as 7 Jul 1896, as does his WW I draft registration card; G.L. Thomas' ENGLISH THOMAS FAMILY, p. 96, gives the dob of 16 Jul 1896.

      The 1920 census shows Otho L Snouffer, 23, born in Maryland, living with his wife Ethel M, 25, born in Louisiana, and son "Joseph L," 2, born in Virginia. Other was working as a "helper" in a "lunch room" -- a restaurant or cafe. The family was living with Otho's brother Roy B, 30, his wife Florence M, 29, both born in Maryland, and their son "Bernard R," 2, and an unnamed daughter, "0/12" months old, both born in the District of Columbia. 1920 U.S. Census, Washington, D.C. (T 625, Roll 210, stamped p. 34).

      The 1939 BOYD'S DIRECTORY, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, p. 1191 (R.L. Polk & Co.: 1939), lists [sic]: "Snouffer Otho L (Bernice) countermn h 1910 1st nw apt 2."

      The 1942 BOYD'S DIRECTORY, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, p. 1522 (R.L. Polk & Co. 1942), lists [sic]: "Snouffer Otho L (Edna B) cook h 1910 1st nw apt 1."

      Obituary, The [Frederick, MD] News, p. 9 (14 Apr 1952):
      "Body Recovered --
      "The body of a Washington [D.C.] man was found floating in Baltimore harbor Saturday [12 Apr].
      "Baltimore police identified him as Otho L. (Jack) Snouffer, 55, a counterman at Merchants Lunch, 407 Eleventh street N.W. Washington.
      "The restaurant said [sic] that Mr. Snouffer has been working there off and on for several years. He worked last Monday [7 Apr] and asked for Tuesday [8 Apr] off. He has not been seen since. Mr. Snouffer lived with a sister, Mrs. J. G. Butler, of Poolesville, who said he did not come home Monday night.
      "Circumstances of the drowning were being investigated by the Baltimore police.
      "A son of the late Benjamin and Adelaide Snouffer, he is survived by his son, Joseph L. Snouffer, Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Butler and Mrs. Francis Wenner, both of Poolesville and a brother, Joseph B. Snouffer, Potomac.
      " *** [F]uneral services will be conducted Tuesday [15 Apr], 2 p.m. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick...."
