      The Walnut Grove

      Dorothy Hilda Jewett, age 96, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 15, 1998 at her home, after a lenghty illness. Born to Dr. Charles Jewett and Ida Carruthers Jewett on July 27, 1902, she was a lifelong resident of Worthington where she was a public school music teacher and also spent many years teaching piano and voice to hundreds of children throughout the Worthington area. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1934; a Bachelor of Science in Education at Ohio State University in 1935, and a Masters of Arts at Ohio State University in 1941. She was a member of the Columbus Alumni Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon. Charter member of the Worthington MUsic Club, member of the OSU President's Club, volunteer at Riverside Methodist Hospital for 19 consecutive years. She was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She leaves Clarence Caruthers and Norma Mendes. Funeral service 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 1998 at the Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home 515 High St. Worthington with Pastor Jack Watsonofficiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial Walnut Grove Cemetery. Please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to honor Dorothy's memory are requested by the family to contribute to the Alzheimer Association of Central Ohio, 3380 Tremont Rd., Columbus, Oh. 43221.
