    • The New Oxford [PA] Item, p. 5 (20 May 1915), reported:
      "Lookenbill Exhonorated.
      "The hearing in the case of Harry Lookenbill, of this place [New Oxford], who was taken to York [PA] and arrested on May 8th, on charge of being implicated with his housekeeper, Lizzie Peters, in the theft of some morphine tablets, etc., from the home of Dr. Venus, in that city, was held before Alderman John H. Frey, at York, on Monday [17 May]. Lookenbill had no trouble in proving that he was at work in the New Oxford Shoe Factory on May 5th when the alleged crime should have been committed, and [he] was forthwith discharged."
    • At the time of his World Ward I draft registration (Sep 1918), Harry was working for the Western Maryland Railroad Co. His WW II draft registration card (27 Apr 1942) indicates that he was born 28 Sep 1877 in Abbottstown, PA, and was employed with the Windsor Shoe Co., Littlestown, PA.

      The 1920 census lists Harry W, 42, as a widower, living with 6 Pennsylvania-born sons: Clair W,19; "Erl" C, 16; Henry A, 15; Emory E, 13; James F, 10, and Raymond L, 7. 1920 U.S. Census, New Oxford, Adams Cnty, PA (T 625, Roll 1507, stamped p. 17B).

      According to the Social Security Death Index, Harry (SSN 180-10-9467; issued in PA) was born 28 Sep 1877 and died in Apr 1973 while residing in Hanover, York Cnty, PA.

      "Harry W. Lookenbill, 95, of ... New Oxford, died at Hillview House Tuesday [17 Apr].... He was in Hanover General Hospital since November 8. Lookenbill, born in Adams County, was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lookenbill. He has been an employe [sic] of the E.C. Livingston Shoe Co., New Oxford, until his retirement in 1956. He first wife, Mary Wetzel [sic], died [in] 1914 and his second wife, Agnes S. Shanefelt, died in 1953. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of New Oxford. He is survived by five sons, Earl C., Hanover; Henry G., Jacobus; Emory E., Jacksonville, Fla.; James F., Spring Grove R.D.3; Raymond L., Lebanon; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, a step daughter, Mrs. Edward Fuhrman, Hanover;.... Funeral services will be held Friday [20 Apr].... Burial will be in New Oxford Cemetery...."
