    • Jack was born in 1922; his mother Felicia "Lelia" C. Snouffer died shortly after giving birth to him; he then was adopted by his aunt Blossom N. Snouffer (his mother's sister) and her husband Charles R. Almack. (His obituary, contrarily, states that he was born in 1924.)

      The 1930 census lists Jack's adoptive father, "Rupert C" Almack, 35, a farmer, living with his wife Blossom N, 35, and Jack G, 8. 1930 U.S. Census, Bluff Twsp, Grant Cnty, OK (T 626, Roll 1905, stamped p. 16).
    • In 1940 the census lists his parents Blossom, 45, and C. R. Almack, 45, a carpenter, together with their son Jack Almack, 18, born in Oklahoma; they were living with Blossom's sister Cecil, 47 and her husband Jesse McBride, 51. 1940 U.S. Census, Birmingham, Jefferson Cnty, AL (T 627, Roll 92, ED 68-52, stamped p. 678B).

      "Jack J. Almack, 80 [sic], died Friday, March 12, 2004, at an Abilene medical center.
      "Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday [15 Mar], at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories.... A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. in Atoka Cemetery near Novice, Texas....
      "He was born to Lelia Claudine (Thomas) [sic] and Otus Perry Blackwell on January 2, 1924 [sic; 1922], in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Jack was adopted by his mother's sister, Blossom Nancy Almack, the wife of Charles Rupert Almack, following his mother's death. He received a master's degree in music from Columbia University in New York, NY, and taught music for several years at the University of El Paso. He later became an insurance agent for John Hancock Insurance from which he retired. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and an accomplished musician. During his military service, he was a member of the U.S.O. band, The Star Dusters, performing all over the United States and South America, and continued his music career until recent years.
      "After his marriage to V. Ann Attaway Cunningham on July 15, 1978, the couple resided in Abilene of which they were longtime residents. They were Baptists.
      "He was predeceased by his parents, his adoptive parents, and four brothers.
      "He is survived by his wife, V. Ann Almack of Abilene; four children; two step-children; and several grandchildren.
      "Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide Rd., Suite 12A, Lubbock, TX 79424, or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 41, Abilene, TX 79604."
