  • Notes
    • In 1900 the census lists Paul's father Francis N. Seabrook, as a 42 yr old man, born Sep 1857 in Maryland, working as a clerk for a railroad, living with his wife of 12 years, Louisa M, 35, born Jan 1865 in Iowa, and their 3 children, all born in Iowa: Angelo J, 11, born Oct 1888; Paul F, 9, born July 1890; and Mary G, 8, born Jan 1892. 1900 U.S. Census, 3d Ward, Cedar Rapids, Linn Cnty, IA (T 623, Roll 444, stamped p. 72).

The 1905 Iowa State Census lists the Seabrook family living at 607 S 8th St. in Cedar Rapids; family members listed are "F.N." Seabrook, "Louise," "Angelo," Paul and "Gertrude." 1905 Iowa State Census, Cedar Rapids, Linn Cnty, IA (IA_96, cards 247-251); via Iowa State Census Collection, 1836-1925, www.Ancestry.com (accessed Mar 2009).

The 1910 census shows Paul's father "Nelson" Seabrook living with his wife of 22 years, "Mary," and children: Joseph, 21; P---? [the handwriting is nearly illegible], 19; Gertrude, 11; and a son whose name is not legible, perhaps "Thomas," 4. 1910 U.S. Census, 5th Prct, Cedar Rapids, Linn Cnty, IA (T 624, Roll 411, stamped p. 16).

Paul completed a WW I Draft Registration Card, giving his name as "Paul Francis Seabrooke." He stated his age as 26, and gave a birth date of 18 July 1890 in Cedar Rapids, IA. He was single and employed as a bookkeeper for J.A. Green & Sons, a crushed stone business in Cedar Rapids.

Paul Seabrook served in the U.S. Army during World War I. Beneath his photo in A.F. Dotson, HONOR ROLL, LINN COUNTY IOWA, p. 327 (The Torch Press, Cedar Rapids, IA; 1925 ?), appears the following: "Pvt. Paul F. Seabrooke [sic], Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Born Cedar Rapids, Iowa, July, 1896 [sic]. Son of M. Louise and F. Nelson Seabrooke. Entered Army July 24, 1918. Battery C, 336th Field Artillery." See also:

In 1930 Paul lived in California. The 1930 census lists him as Paul F "Seabrooke," 39, born in Iowa, living alone on W. 16th St in Oakland. He was an electrical contractor. 1930 U.S. Census, Oakland, Alameda Cnty, CA (T 626, Roll 101, stamped p. 103). Note that his brother Angelo Joseph lived in the area also.

Paul's WW II Draft Registration Card, which he filled out when he was 51 years old, and which he signed "Paul F Seabrooke," indicated that he was living at 1014 W 16th St, in Oakland, Alameda Cnty, CA; that he had been born 18 Jul 1890 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. There was no mention of a spouse.

According to the Social Security & the California Death indices, Paul "Seabrooke" (SSN 552-05-0173; issued in CA) was born 18 Jul 1890 and died in San Francisco, CA, on 20 Dec 1964. The CA index states that his mother's maiden name was "Duffick."
