Weiser, eds: 1993), contains records of the Krider's, or St. Benjamin's, Lutheran Church, as follows: "Noah Amos, son of Michael and Margaretha Beyer, b. 20 Nov. 1822, bp. 12 Jan. 1823. Sponsors: Mathia Spittler and Ellisabeth Dottro."
    • T.J.C. Williams & F. McKinsey, HISTORY OF FREDERICK COUNTY, p.860 (1910), record that Noah's father "Michael Byers was a cooper and farmer, and spent his whole life near Westminster [MD].... Michael Byers was married to Elizabeth Dutrow, of Emmitsburg District. Their children are: 1, Noah Amos, [who] married Catherine Reese, moved to Omaha, Neb., where his wife died, [and] afterwards [he] returned to Frederick County, Md., where he died...."
    • The 1850 census records "Noah A Byers," 28, living with his wife "Catherine," 28, and the following children: Augustus R, 4; Ellen, 3; and Mary E, 1. Also living in the family home were 3 lodgers or helpers. All were born in MD. Noah was a farmer. 1850 U.S. Census, Frederick, Frederick Cnty, MD (M 432, Roll 292, stamped p. 100).

      "Noah and Catherine were given slaves as a wedding gift. He freed them and this caused trouble, so in 1854 he moved his family from Maryland to Missouri. There he became an abolitionist and helped smuggle slaves across the border into Canada. They later moved to Omaha, Nebraska. After his wife's death, he returned to Maryland. Source-American Boyers."
