According to Wm. J. Grove, «i»HISTORY OF CARROLLTON MANOR«/i», p. 262 (1928), "Miss Nellie Snouffer" served on the "Committee of Reception" at the "Basket Pic-Nic ... held in Mr. Curtis Thomas' Woods, near Adamstown, on Wednesday, September 3d, 1879."
The 1880 census lists Nellie, 23 years old, "keeping house" for her father "Snauffer, George W," sister Fannie and sister Ida and her husband John H. Yeakey [indexed as "Yukey"], her father's cousin, and a black servant and 3 black farm laborers.«i» 1880 U.S. Census,«/i» Buckeystown Dist, Frederick Cnty, MD (T 9, Roll 509, stamped p. 5).
The «i»1930 BOYD'S DIRECTORY, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA«/i», p. 1430 (R.L. Polk & Co. 1930), lists "Nellie" Snouffer as living at 1356 Kenyon, NW.

«tab»"Miss Nellie Snouffer, a resident of Washington, D. C., for the past 50 years, died there Wednesday, July 26 of complications [sic], aged 88 years.
«tab»"She was a daughter of the late George W. and Elizabeth E. Thomas Snouffer of Frederick County. Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Joseph Chiswell, of Washington. E. N. Snouffer of Buckeystown was a cousin of the deceased. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
