    • The 1880 census shows John A. Ruble, 46, an engineer, born in Virginia, living with his wife "Kate," 39, and their three sons: Ellis, 13; "Fredk C," 11; and Charles, 7. «i»1880 U.S. Census, «/i»Urbana, Champaign Cnty, OH (T 9, Roll 998, stamped pp. 416C & D).

      Obituary:
      "The death of John A. Ruble occured at his home near Rose Hill, Darke county, November 5, 1889, after suffering five months with cancer; aged fifty five years, four months and twenty-three days. He was born in Craig county, Va., in 1834, and came to Ohio when quite young, and had been in the employ of railroad companies until some years back, when he settled on the farm purchased by him near the above mentioned village. Mr. Ruble was respected and esteemed by all who knew him as an honorable and upright man. He was a member of the I.O.O.F., and was buried by the Ansonia Lodge. Bro. Ruble leaves a devoted wife, three sons and many relatives and warm friends to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held from the Christian Church, known as Teagarden Chapel; sermon by Rev. C.W. Heoffer, of Ansonia, assisted by Rev. Harry Lott. The body was buried in Teagarden Cemetery."
