      "Herschel Lee Roach, 82, of Willow Wood, [OH] passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at his residence.
      "The Patriot, Ohio, native was born Feb. 20, 1925, son of the late Owen and Amanda Miller Roach.
      "He is survived by his wife, Anna Lee McCarty Roach, whom he married April 27, 1944.
      "Mr. Roach attended Waterloo School. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, serving with the First Infantry Division. He was a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, lifetime member of the AmVets and served as an elected officer. He also served as Honor Guard with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Symmes Valley Post No. 2761, since 1974, and serves as a current trustee and was Veterans Service Commission board member representing the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
      "He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service who lived in Lawrence County his whole life.
      "In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Inez Taylor and Mary Eloise Myers.
      "In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Lin Laroe Williams of Pasco, Wash.; a daughter, Rena Snouffer of Cincinnati; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Aurora Roach of Charlotte, N.C.; and sisters, Wilma Bennett of Willow Wood, Verna McCarty of Kitts Hill, and Sharon Mayberry of Chesapeake.
      "He is also survived by grandchildren, Joseph S. West V and his wife, Monica, of Delton, Mich., LeeAnn West of Washington D.C., Stephen Laroe of Los Angeles, Calif., Sarah Snouffer, Marianne Snouffer and Robert Snouffer III, all of Cincinnati, Chris and Carol Roach , Eli and Gretchen Roach , and Victor Roach ; and great-grandchildren, Amanda and Joey West, Collin Roach , Macy Roach and Ryan Snouffer.
      "Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at Trinity Baptist Church in Wilgus.... Burial will follow in Aid Cemetery.... "
