      Mansfield [OH] News-Journal, p. 9 (23 Sep 1940):
"Arrested last Friday [17 Sep] as a child molester suspect, John Snouffer, 44, South Boulevards, today was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a 10-year-old girl....
"Snouffer was taken into custody by deputy sheriffs after the child's grandparents, with whom she lives, told authorities he had taken liberties with the girl in his home. The child lives only a short distance from Snouffer.
"[Proscutor] Marriott said there was no evidence that the girl had been assaulted [and therefore he was not charged with a more serious offense]. Snouffer, who is married and has a son, has been held in the county jail since officers arrested him at his home three days ago."

      Mansfield [OH] News-Journal, p. 2 (28 Sep 1940):
"Placed on three months probation ... John Snouffer, 44, South Boulevards, accused of molesting a child, was released today from the county jail where he had been held for the last week.
"Arraigned several days ago, Snouffer admitted he had taken liberties with a 10-year-old neighbor girl at his home several months ago. Physicians said, however, that the child had not been assaulted.
"Judge Anderson placed Snouffer on probation until Jan. 2, 1941, and warned him that if he fails to live up to the requirements of the probation he will be sent to the workhouse. *** "

      Mansfield [OH] News Journal, p. 2 (20 Jul 1948):
"J.C. Snouffer, operator of a tourist home on Park avenue east road, reported to sheriff's deupties last night that a rock had been thrown through a front window of his home. The rock broke both the storm window and regular window and damaged the venetian blind. The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m.
"Snouffer said he had no idea who might have thrown the rock. He said he had no difficulty with anyone."

      Mansfield [OH] News Journal, p. 24 (14 Aug 1952):
