    • According to the Ohio Supreme Court, Clara M. Snouffer "obtained a divorce from her husband, John M. Snouffer, on July 10, 1925.... By decree, she was awarded as alimony certain real and personal property belonging to her husband, and, in addition thereto, she was awarded, as further alimony, the sum of $200 per month for her support so long as she should remain unmarried." The property included a portion of her husband's farm and a residence. On appeal, the alimony was reduced to $100 per month. John died 1 July 1935 and in his will left all his property to his second wife Joslyn, the executrix, who promptly stopped the alimony payments. Clara sued. The probate court ruled that she was entitled to continue to receive alimony. The Supreme Court reversed. It held that the monthly alimony was a personal obligation that terminates upon death, and his estate was not required to make an further alimony payments. See, Snouffer v. Snouffer, vol. 132, Ohio Reports, p. 617; vol. 9, NorthEastern Reports 2d, p. 621 (1937).
