    • In 1940 the census records Tom S. Aber, 33, a railroad brakeman, living with his wife "Hazel Laura," 28, and two New Mexico born daughters: Tomasine, 4; and Suzanna, 1. In 1935 they had lived in Denver, CO. 1940 U.S. Census, Orton, Quay Cnty, NM (T 627, Roll 2448, stamped p. 157).
    • Obituary, unknown newspaper (2004):
      "Hazel Orr Aber passed away on June 21, 2004. A long time resident of El Paso [NM] and member of a Northern New Mexico pioneer ranching family, she was the daughter of Charles Lee and Lena Orr.
      "Mrs. Aber was born in Matador, Texas and moved with her family to the Clovis area in 1914. She was one of eight daughters raised on the Cunavoy Basin Ranch in Quay County, New Mexico and educated at Kidd Key Conservatory of Music in Sherman, Texas.
      "Mrs. Aber was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Tom Aber, who was with the Southern Pacific Railroad for 54 years and also from a pioneer New Mexico family.
      "Mrs. Aber is survived by one sister, Billie Lynette Myrick who resides in Mo. and four of her five children, Tomasine Aber, Winston, New Mexico, Suzanna Hawkins (spouse, Raymond) Poinciana, Florida, Dick (Butch) Aber, El Paso, Tx. (spouse Leticia), Cheryl Carson (spouse Kenneth) Ft. Collins, Co., her son Michael passed away in 1997.
      "Mrs. Aber was a loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren, Christina Massim, Donna Norris, Jeanette Puzzo, Patricia Hessenaurer, Raymond Hawkins, Jr., Sharon Dasher, Kenley Carson, Kendal Carson, Leslie Giesbrecht, Tom Aber and David Aber. She is also survived by 22 great grandchildren.
      "Mrs. Aber was a talented artist, musician. She spent the last years among friends at the White Acres Good Samaritan Retirement Village in El Paso. She will be missed by all who knew her.
