    • Claude's 1940 WW II Draft Card indicates that his full name was Claude Wagner Carmack, he was born 13 Aug 1913 in Wheaton, Montgomery Cnty, MD, and was then living in Silver Spring, MD.
    • The 1940 census lists "Claude W.," 28, living with his parents John W. Carmack, 73, and Emma, 60, with his sister Emma V., 19. John was born in Washington, D.C.; the others, in Maryland. Claude worked as a laborer for a lumber company. 1940 U.S. Census, Wheaton Twsp, Montgomery Cnty, MD (T 627, Roll 1555, ED 16-49, stamped p. 921-B). [The indexer listed the surname as "Casmach."]
    • The Social Security Death Index provides that Claude W. Carmack (SSN 217-07-2246; issued by MD) was born 13 Aug 1912 and died 30 Mar 2003 while residing in Frederick, Maryland.

      "Mr. Claude Carmack
      "Mr. Claude Wagner Carmack, 90, long-time resident of Rockville [MD], recently of Frederick, died Sunday, March 30, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
      "He was the husband of Marie A. Carmack, who died April 26, 1981.
      "Born Aug. 13, 1912, in Wheaton [MD], he was a son of the late John N. and Emma Magruder Carmack.
      "Mr. Carmack was a manager of a service station in Wheaton for over 30 years, prior to his retirement in the early 1970s.
      "He was an avid gardener during his retirement.
      "Mr. Carmack was a member of First Baptist Church, Kensignton.
      "Surviving are one sister, Laura Johnson of Ocala, Fla.; [and many nieces and nephews]....
      "Mr. Carmack was preceded in death by three sisters ... and two brothers....
      "The family will receive friends ... Sunday ... where funeral services will be held ... Monday, April 7....
      "Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick."
