    • Fred's first marriage license application (24 Dec 1914) affirmed that his full name was Fred V. Humphrey, that he was 21 yrs of age on 5 Aug 1914 [i.e. bithdate 5 Aug 1893], born in Nankin, OH. His parents were M. W. Humphrey and "Abbie Arter." He was a farmer by trade; and he had not been previously married. His bride to be was Gertrude Leiter; she was 20 on 27 Feb 1914 [i.e., birthdate 27 Feb 1894], born in Ashland, OH. Her parents were Joseph Leiter and Catherine Shafer. He was a printer by trade; and he had been once previously married to a woman still living. His bride to be was Erma Liston; she was 27 on 17 Jun 1829 [i.e., birthdate 17 Jun 1802]. born in Ashland, OH. Her parents were Grant Liston and Celia Bauer. She was employed doing "factory work." The marriage was officiated by Rev. Elmer M. Druley of the Universalist Church of Caledonia, OH on 27 Dec 1929.
