    • On 10 Oct 1903, Isaac I. Huffman married Barbara Arter in Crawford Cnty, OH. On that day, Isaac applied for the license, stating that he was 50 yrs old [sic] on 11 Sep 1903, and had been born in Logan Cnty, OH; that he was an "engineer" by occupation; his father was "Wm. ? Huffman," and his mother's maiden name was "Phebe Boardman." He noted that he had been married twice before. He asserted that Barbara was 26 yrs old on 30 Mar 1903 and she had been born in Paulding Cnty, OH; that her father's name was Henry Arter and her mother, "Sadie Snyder"; and that this was her fist marriage. The license was issued and the two were married by a minister in Bucyrus, OH. Ohio County Marriages, 1774-1993 (Crawford Cnty, 1903-1905; p. 59).
    • Obituary, The [Marion, OH] Star, p. 13 (3 Aug 1939):
      "Isaac Huffman, 88, retired Erie railroad engineer and a former Marion [OH] resident, died at noon yesterday [2 Aug] at his home in North Lewisburg. In failing health for the last year, he had been seriously ill for the last two weeks.
      "Mr. and Mrs. Huffman ... moved to North Lewisburg about five years ago after making Marion their home for many years.
      "Mr. Huffman retired from the Erie service in 1935. He was hired on Aug. 29, 1877, at Galion [OH] as a fireman and was promoted to an engineer on Oct. 11, 1882. His retirement ended 48 years with the railroad.
      "He was born in Logan county on Sept. 10, 1850 [sic].
      "Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Barbara Huffman, one son, Conard Huffman [the mother of whom was not Barbara] of Los Angeles, and a grandson in Columbus [OH]. Hiram Huffman ... is a nephew.
      "The funeral will be conducted Friday [4 Aug] ... at the home, followed by burial in Maple Grove cemetery at North Lewisburg."
