    • The 1930 census lists Axel Youngkrantz, 27, living with his wife Jean, 25, born in MN, living with their daughter, Orpha J, 4 1/2. Also in the home was Axel's brother Henry W., 25. Axel had been born in Sweden; the others in Minnesota. Axel and his brother worked as farmers. 1930 U.S. Census, Barry Twsp, Pine Cnty, MN (T 626, Roll 1112, ED 58-4, stamped p. 14 B)[census date was 17 Apr 1930].
    • In 1940 the census shows Axel, 37, living with Jean, 26, and two daughters: Orpha, 14; and "Phillis," 7. Axel was employed in the interior decorating business doing "paper hanging & painting." 1940 U.S. Census, Hinckley Twsp, Pine Cnty, MN (T 627, Roll 1947, ED 58-22; stamped p. 99).
    • Obituary, The [Sandstone, MN] Pine County Courier (Jun 1973):
      "Axel Youngkrantz, 70, Carthage [MO], died at 7:45 p.m. Sunday at McCune-Brooks Hospital where he had been a patient since June 14th.
      "Born August 20, 1902, in Sweden, he was reared near Friesland and Hinckley [MN] and resided at Farmington [MN] for 25 years before moving to Carthage four months ago.
      "He was married to Jean Silver [sic] on April 10, 1923, at Hinckley. He was a retired police officer at Farmington.
      "Surviving are the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Morris [sic; Maurice] Watts, Carthage and Mrs. Phyllis Lewis, Carthage; six brothers, George, Duluth, Arthur, Moose Lake, Henry, Harris, Carl, Lake Lillian, Arvid, Farmington and Alton, Pine Island; four sisters, Mrs. Edith Shipley, Cloquet, Mrs. Ann Jacobson, Sturgeon Lake, Mrs. Edna Williams, Duluth and Mrs. Ruby Larson, Finlayson; eight grandchildren and a great grandchild.
      "Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Ulmer Funeral Home. The Rev. Doyle Lamon officiated and burial was at the Park Cemetery."
