    • The 1860 census records "Eliza Jane" Bernard, 12, living with her parents, John, 47, and Mary Ann, 44, together with 5 other siblings. John, a laborer, had been born in England; Mary Ann and all the children were born in Ohio. 1860 U.S. Census, Madison Twsp, Franklin Cnty, OH (M 653, Roll 962, stamped p. 103 B).
    • On 22 Apr 1872, "Esley Snouffer" and "Eliza Burnhard" were married in Franklin Cnty, OH, by Justice of the Peace Daniel Marshall. See Ohio, County Marriages, 1789-2013, online database at: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XZPT-WX3 [LDS Film 285147].
    • In 1880 the census shows "Esley Snoffer," 31, living with his wife Eliza, 31, both born in Illinois. They had no children. Esley worked as a teamster. 1880 U.S. Census, Columbus, Franklin Cnty, OH (T 9, Roll 1017, stamped p. 425 D).
    • The 1900 census lists "Esley Snouffer," 51, born Jan 1849 in Ohio, living with his wife of 28 years, "Eliza," 50, born Jun 1849, also in Ohio. Esley worked as a teamster. 1900 U.S. Census, Columbus, Franklin Cnty, OH (T 623, Roll 1268, stamped p. 249).
    • Obituary, Columbus [OH] Dispatch, p. 11 (13 Dec 1915):
      "Mrs. Eliza Snoffer [sic], 65, widow of Essley Snoffer [sic], died of acute indigestion Monday [sic; actually Sunday 12 Dec at 4.a.m.] at the home of Mrs. G. L. Pollard, 1593 Leonard avenue. Surviving her are two brothers, John and Darius Bernard. The body was taken to the home of Darius Bernard.... Funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday [15 Dec] at the Taylor Avenue M.E. church. Burial in Riverside cemetery...."
    • According to the "Ohio Deaths, 1908-1953" database, "Eliza Snaffer" died 12 Dec 1915, in Columbus, OH. She was a widow; she had been born 12 Jun 1850 in Ohio, and her father's name was John Bernard. She was buried 15 Dec 1915 in Riverside Cemetery.
