    • Norman served in the U.S. Army during WW II and apparently was killed in action; his tombstone reflects that he received a Purple Heart.
    • In late May 1946 his widow, Elizabeth Jane Diffenderfer, 25, applied for a license to marry again. She asserted, among other facts, that she had had one previous marriage and that her first husband died 28 Mar 1945.
